April Ross

April Ross, a beach volleyball star from the United States is part of a select set of females who've been awarded medals at more than one Olympics. She is set to compete in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic medal alongside Alix Klineman, who is a first-time Olympian. Ross's dream is to earn her first Olympic gold medal. Ross participated in the USC Trojans in college after graduating from the high school she attended. Ross's Trojans experience was amazing. In 2000, as a freshman Her performance was rewarded with the Pac-10 and NCAA Young Player of the Year awards. In addition, she helped her Trojans to make it to the Final Four. After her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal loss, yet managed to earn the honor of being named an All-American. Over her final two years as a player, she led the Trojans towards the summit netting successive national titles. Her individual achievements have cemented her place as a legendary volleyball player. Ross was awarded the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross studied international relations at USC. Margie Ross was not able to see Ross achieve beach volleyball's top levels. In 2001 when Ross was a sophomore studying at USC her mother passed away from breast cancer.
